Windermere
The Town of Windermere, also known as the Beverly Hills of Central Florida, is tucked away in southwest Orange County. Windermere is surrounded by a series of sand bottom lakes. Lake Butler (the largest) is on the west, Lake Down on the east, and Lake Bessie on the southeast. By means of a system of canals, Butler, Down and six other lakes are connected to form what is known as the Butler Chain.The Butler Chain of Lakes are viewed as the most pristine lakes in the state of Florida. Windermere is conveniently located approximately 6 miles north of Walt Disney World and 14 miles from down town Orlando. In addition to the natural beauty Windermere has to offer the town has some of Central Florida's best schools and has recently been awarded #1 town for families in all of Florida by Neighborhood Scout.
